CXM liquidity limits

Does any trade in this list go past CXM's liquidity limits, counted across every account?

Free, no sign-up

The first row is the column names. Open time (Time), Symbol, Type (buy, sell) and Lots (Volume) are needed; Close time (MT5's second Time column) and Account (Login) are worth adding. Commas, semicolons and tabs all work. Sample data is loaded.

Your trade list is only read in your browser: it is not sent to an IBFX server and not stored in the page address.

How it is calculated

The tool checks the three limits in the CXM Liquidity Guidelines table and counts the trades of every account in the list together. The CXM document says that when one IB or money manager controls several accounts, the limits apply to the group of accounts rather than to each account on its own. A breach can mean commission refused and trades cancelled.

  • Lots per trade: the lots in a single entry must stay within the group's limit. Trades on the same symbol, in the same direction, opened within the same second on several accounts (copy trading) are added together as one entry.
  • Wait time: two entries in a row on the same symbol, on any account, must be at least the group's number of seconds apart.
  • Open lots: the total lots open on one symbol, across every account and counting both buys and sells, must stay within the group's limit. The document calls this row Max NOP (net open position); adding both directions is stricter than netting them off.

The limit table

CXM liquidity limits by product group
GroupLots per tradeWait between two tradesOpen lotsVolume in the table, notes
FX Majors 50 (table says 100) 15 seconds 200 5m per trade, 20m open. The lot row says 100 lots per trade, but 5 million is only 50 lots: the tool uses 50.
FX Minors 50 20 seconds 125 5m per trade, 12.5m open.
FX Exotics 50 30 seconds 20 5m per trade, 2m open.
Gold 50 30 seconds 100 5,000 oz per trade, 10,000 oz open.
Silver 25 30 seconds 50 125,000 oz per trade, 250,000 oz open.
Oil 100 30 seconds 20 100,000 b per trade, 25,000 b open. 25,000 barrels is 25 lots, but the lot row says 20 open lots: the tool uses 20.
Indices 100 20 seconds 25 1000 pp per trade, 250 pp open. The document does not explain the unit "pp", so it cannot be converted to lots: the tool uses the lot row.

Where the lot figure and the volume figure in one row disagree, the tool uses the lower of the two. CXM states it may change these levels at any time without notice; the result from this tool does not replace confirmation from CXM.

How symbols are matched to groups

The CXM document does not list the symbols in each group; the tool matches them like this:

  • FX majors: EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, AUDUSD, USDCAD, NZDUSD.
  • FX minors: the other pairs built from USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CHF, CAD, AUD and NZD, EURGBP and AUDJPY for example.
  • FX exotics: pairs holding TRY, ZAR, MXN, SGD, HKD, NOK, SEK, DKK, PLN, HUF, CZK, CNH, RUB, THB or ILS.
  • Gold XAU…, GOLD; silver XAG…, SILVER; oil USOIL, UKOIL, WTI, BRENT; indices US30, US500, NAS100, GER40, UK100, JP225 and similar names.
  • Broker suffixes such as EURUSDm or EURUSD.pro are ignored. A symbol the tool cannot match, crypto for example, is not checked and is listed under the result.

Getting the trade list out of MT5

In MT5 on desktop, open the History tab, pick the date range, right-click and choose Report to save an Excel file. Open the file in Excel or Google Sheets, keep the Positions table, then save it as CSV. For several accounts, merge them into one file and add an Account column. The tool only counts the trades in the list: a trade on another account in the group that is not in the file is not counted.
