How it is calculated
Pivot levels come from the high (H), low (L) and close (C) of the previous period. R is resistance above, S is support below. They are reference areas to watch, not buy or sell signals.
- Floor (classic): PP = (H + L + C) ÷ 3; R1 = 2PP − L; S1 = 2PP − H; R2 = PP + (H − L); S2 = PP − (H − L); R3 = H + 2(PP − L); S3 = L − 2(H − PP).
- Woodie: PP = (H + L + 2C) ÷ 4, so the close counts double; R1, S1, R2, S2, R3, S3 as in Floor; R4 = R3 + (H − L); S4 = S3 − (H − L).
- Camarilla: R1…R4 = C + (H − L) × 1.1 ÷ 12, ÷ 6, ÷ 4, ÷ 2; S1…S4 take the same distances off C.
- DeMark: X = H + 2L + C when C < O; 2H + L + C when C > O; H + L + 2C when C = O. PP = X ÷ 4; R1 = X ÷ 2 − L; S1 = X ÷ 2 − H.
- Fibonacci: PP as in Floor; R1, R2, R3 = PP + 0.382, 0.618, 1 times (H − L); S1, S2, S3 take the same distances off PP.
Example
H = 1.5; L = 0.9; C = 1.3. Floor: PP = 3.7 ÷ 3 ≈ 1.2333; R1 = 2 × 1.2333 − 0.9 ≈ 1.5667; S1 = 2 × 1.2333 − 1.5 ≈ 0.9667.
